There’s a lot of time, skill and work that goes into making Lucky Orange technology what is today and will be tomorrow. For this issue of Meet the Lucky Orange team, we’re featuring one of our junior developers – Josh Ollendick.
It’s a busy time here at Lucky Orange, and Josh Ollendick is busy at work on this random Wednesday afternoon.
As a junior developer, he is focusing on bringing new life into the design and ideas that make their way into the Lucky Orange technology our users depend on.
The more you talk to Josh, the more you realize how much he loves working here at Lucky Orange.
As he puts it, his job is “the perfect combination of technology, creativity and problem-solving. I get to build things in new and creative ways every day.”
Josh’s enthusiasm and optimism is contagious as it spreads throughout the development team and the rest of the office.
I was able to catch him for a moment to ask him a few quick questions to get to know him better and learn a little more about life here at Lucky Orange.
Angi Bowman (AB): Thanks for sitting down with me! Let’s start with the basics – how would you describe your job at Lucky Orange?
Josh Ollendick (JO): I help bring the ideas and designs of Lucky Orange to life. I help build the Lucky Orange interface and can be found working updates or tackling some troublesome code.
AB: It’s crazy to think you started in December 2018. It feels like your first day was just yesterday. Now that you have almost seven months under your belt, what do you love most about working at Lucky Orange?
JO: I know this may sound cliché, but what I love most about working at Lucky Orange is that it has never felt like work! I am doing what I love to do every day. The team has been so supportive and welcoming, it really does feel like a family.
AB: The family vibe is really amazing, isn’t it? Since we’re on a family level, what’s a personal fact no one would ever guess about you?
JO: While it’s very rarely the definition of quality cinema, I love watching horror movies, especially with a group of friends. There is just something about being scared that is fun to me. You can be sure that once October rolls around I’m watching nothing but horror or Halloween related films/shows.
AB: Keeping with the film theme, let’s say Hollywood wanted to make a movie about your life. Who would you like to see cast as you and why?
JO: Hmm… that’s a tough one. There are so many good options. I would have to go with John Krasinski. He’s well-known for his role as Jim Halpert from “The Office,” and if you haven’t seen the show, I highly recommend it. I really relate to his character. Also, I have never been disappointed with a show/movie I have seen him in, so I know he would do it justice.
AB: Last question! What restaurant do you think has the best barbecue in Kansas City?
JO: Since I’m a bit newer to the Kansas City area I’ll preface with the fact that I haven’t gotten to experience all of the many delicious Kansas City barbecue hot spots. However, I have never been disappointed with a meal from Q39, so I would say that’s the leader for me at the moment.
Editor’s note: If we have enough comments, maybe I’ll be able to ask Josh for some of his tips and secrets he learned during his time working at Walt Disney World in his pre-Lucky Orange life. Watch for our next issue to learn more about one of our account managers, Jordan Wellborn.
